These are the voices
of transformation

Each story is a powerful reminder of God’s grace, healing, and the freedom found through Christ-centered recovery.

  • I was an addict and thief that struggled with shame, depression, and anxiety. Through my time at the Potter’s House, God has removed my addictions, renewed my mind, and taught me how to surrender. My life is now solidified in Christ and I have a good foundation for success.

  • The Potter’s House showed me actually how far apart I really was from God. It taught me how to apply scripture to my life and actually live by it. Doing daily devotions is so important to growing stronger in my fa ith. I know now a faith based program is the best way for people in recovery to stay in recovery. That is my own personal opinion.

    — Austin

  • I can't express the amount of gratitude I have for what God is doing both inside of me and outside of me. …God is doing a work through my broken family.

    — Josh

  • Several years ago, drug use led Justin to prison, rehab, and parole. But when he met Jesus in prison, he decided to live life differently.

    — Justin

  • The Potter’s House took me in like family and helped me restore my relationship with Jesus and my family members. I have been able to forgive myself and others and start living in the present and not in the past.

    — Rob

  • My experience at The Potter’s House was a time filled with growth, discovery, and awareness. I grew in these last three months more than I have in probably the last 5 or 6 years. The atmosphere is full of the Holy Spirit and learning to walk in His presence. I can’t wait to see where the Lord leads me with new stability and love for Him, I’ve found.

  • Ryan Forbes and Officer Wendell Metzler were born and raised in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Their paths had never crossed until May 2001 when Officer Wendell Metzler engaged Ryan Forbes in a foot pursuit at an underage drinking party, which resulted in Ryan assaulting Wendell.  Throughout the next few years their paths would cross many times as Ryan’s Life spiraled out of control with drugs, alcohol, and a host of criminal activity. Wendell was the arresting officer many times when Ryan engaged in criminal activities such as vehicle pursuits, DUI’s, Drug Arrests, and more. Both Ryan and Wendell developed a strong hatred for one another over time because of their encounters with each other. Ryan spent a total of 3 years in local and state prisons as a convicted felon and came to finds God’s Loving Grace in prison. Ryan had a total life transformation free from drugs and alcohol since 2007 and made amends with Wendell at the New Holland Fair. GOD gave both the gift of Forgiveness and a friendship blossomed from that moment on. Wendell went on to serve as ‘Best Man’ in Ryan’s wedding and maintains a close friendship with Ryan and his family to this day. In 2017 Ryan and Wendell co-authored a book titled ‘UNCHAINED’ detailing their complete story.

  • Upon arriving at the Potter’s House, I was received warmly by other students and the staff. I felt a peace I can only describe by Philippians 4:6. I knew right away this was going to be a different experience. After getting to know Lloyd, Rob, Lanny, and the Hoover family, I knew this was where I needed to be. Even my family loved visiting me at the Potter’s House! My youngest son called it “God’s house,” and I agree. I am so grateful for the Potter’s House and for everyone involved—all the volunteers, those at Carpenter Community Church, and those who helped me in my personal walk with the Lord. The Potter’s House is a powerful ministry helping transform lives for the kingdom of God. I know this was part of God’s plan for me, and it was only the beginning. I am now involved with the Lancaster city ministry “Todo Pode Roso” that is reaching out to people who are walking in the same way I used to walk.
